After the release of The Sims 2 for Pc, EA soon ported to game onto the console versions. The Console versions of the Sims 2 differed from the PC version though various of ways.

For the Xbox and Playstation 2, The Sims 2 featured new gameplay options from the pc versions, such includes: 

> 3rd person view: The user can now control their Sims in an all new way and control what their Sims do, where they go or who they talk to.

> Story Mode: The console version of the Sims comes with a story mode as well as freedom mode. The story mode takes the user to different locations and gives the Sim Goals to proceed.

>Wants & Fears: Sims now have wants and fears, give sims what they want or give them a scare. This feature gives your sims a bit of personality.

>Multiplayer: Play with your friends in both story and freedom mode.

The Sims 2 was also ported into 3 different handhelds, Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advanced and Playstation Portable, all bringing their own, unique features to the Sims.

The Nintendo DS version of The Sims 2 is based around the Strangetown, getting the user Sims to regenerate the town and make it more welcoming for Sims to return.

The Ds version also uses the DS touch abilities as well as included features from the original game. 

The Gameboy advanced version of the sims 2 aslo takes place in Strangetown but uses a similar GUI to 'The Sims Bustin'out' and 'the Urbz'. 

The Game is somwhat similar to a Reality TV show where Partitions of the game are divided into episodes.

The Sims 2 was also ported to Playstation portable, which again is based in strangetown. The Game begins with the players Sim (being unplayable) driving to strangetown, when a plumbob, somewhat similar to the the logo, fly past, causing the Sims to crash. After a while the Sim finds his way to a gas station where he can meet a number of different NPC, including Bella Goth.
